Short Term Childcare Versus Long Term Childcare What is the Difference?
Short Term Childcare - Date Night Babysitter / Occasional Sitters / One-Time Nannies / Infant Care Nurses
Short term childcare usually consists of occasional one-time / date night sitters or back up nannies. It doesn’t matter if you use them once per week, or twice per week, or ten times in a row or if you call them a sitter, babysitter, nanny or infant care nurse. There is obviously no long term contract. Short term childcare is usually Pay As You Go, and the childcare provider is a 1099 Independent Contractor for these occasional appointments.
Long Term Childcare - Part Time and Full Time Nannies / Infant Care Nurses
Long term childcare usually consists of a nanny / infant care nurse being matched to a family for an extended period of time. The childcare provider is a W-2 Household Employee, and has a long term contract with the family outlining the duties, term and pertinent pay or salary.
